Portable Ultrasound Arrives at KLH
The Portable Ultrasound device is used by physicians to help diagnose medical conditions including, but not limited to, internal bleeding, vascular problems, gynecologic and obstetric dilemmas. It is used in emergency situations to help physicians make more informed decisions about medical conditions and care when the ultrasound equipment in the Radiology department is not available. The main use will be in the Emergency Room and the Obstetrical Unit at Kootenay Lake Hospital. Funds to purchase this important piece of equipment were raised through the Light Up the Hospital! '04 campaign.

NIBP Monitors Have Arrived at Kootenay Lake Hospital!
Thanks to your generous donations to the 2004 Breath of Spring campaign we were able to purchase 8 new NIBP Portable Vital Sign Monitors for Kootenay Lake Hospital. The monitors have arrived and are now being used in different areas of the hospital. These monitors allow the medical staff to assess the vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse and oxygen saturation, of their patients. They are also useful in determining how a patient is responding to treatment.
Thank you to the donors of the Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation for your commitment to providing state of the art equipment for your hospital.
MATERNITY WARD GRAND OPENING
Logan, the first child born in the new Maternity Ward, helped mother Sherie and Foundation Chair, Brian May, open the new ward on June 11. The dignitaries were almost outnumbered by the 22 babies already born in the new ward. The Foundation thanks everyone who helped with the project and looks forward to new accomplishments in 2004.
